VW and Audi vehicles have a known issue where the ignition key can get stuck over time. After thousands of on-and-off cycles, the internal shaft that prevents the starter from double-starting wears out and block the key.
It usually starts with the key needing a little force, then gets worse until it won’t turn at all sometimes leaving the car stuck on or off and requiring a tow to the dealership.
This customer avoided all of that. I replaced the ignition lock right in their driveway, saved the original lock cylinder, and kept their original key working.
No towing, no reprogramming keys, problem solved.Affected models listed on slide 3.
